Taking a bit of light from the Shine Bright Bash

The best work comes when you’re not simply on the daily grind, but are part of something that gives a greater sense of contribution, alignment with who you are, and gives back to the common good. Clients like Children’s Minnesota provide just that for this vidscripper.

MaryRecently,  I was honored to attend the Children’s Minnesota Shine Bright Bash, benefitting their Cancer & Blood Disorders Clinic. While several programs at Children’s use vidscrip to offer help and information to their patients’ families and caregivers, this particular program has always struck a chord with me. Parents of children who enter the oncology and hematology unit are often struck with a major blur. In our office, it’s also a bit more personal.  We all know families who have gone through the incredibly challenging and life-altering journey of diagnosis and treatment.

To be a part of a company and product that aims to even just ease that tension changes the game: to help a hemophilia patient’s parents feel more comfortable dropping them at daycare, to teach a child how certain medications may make them feel, or to educate parents on what used to be foreign tasks like how to change a feeding tube at home. It’s these small moments that remind me, what we do matters.

For many who work in healthcare, it’s easy to see the broken system; easy to see the darkness that is caused by unexpected moments, disease-states and over-complicated workflows. Yet every time I step into Children’s, it is pure light. Working with the teams in hematology and oncology, I see within them a greater mission to make sure that each and every amazing child receives the best possible care, for they are seen and treated as the best humans on Earth. Through the character, generosity and energy in the room of all who attended, the Shine Bright Bash was indeed a direct reflection of this culture.

At vidscrip, doing great work isn’t just about the feeling you get when you’re contributing to the greater good – partnerships with great clients make you want to do even better.  I am honored to be partnering with such a remarkable organization as Children’s Minnesota. I hope to thread into our own culture here at vidscrip a bit of the light I saw not only at the Shine Bright Bash, but from what I see in the clinics at Children’s, each and every day.
