The value of sharing: a case study

The challenge

As a world-renowned surgeon and and a foremost specialist in urological prosthetic reconstruction performing more implant surgeries than anyone in the world, Dr. J. Francois Eid‘s practice is as busy as they come. In addition to his regular in-person caseload and surgical calendar, he offers phone consultations and video appointments.

Always looking for new ways to communicate, he discovered the value of video early on. Dr. Eid was filming, editing, and uploading videos to YouTube for patients, but it was labor intensive. He needed a better way.

The solution: vidscrip

Dr. Eid was introduced to vidscrip by Coloplast and began using it right away to provide patient information in a seamless, easy, efficient way. “What’s great about vidscrip is it’s another dimension. It’s one more vehicle to educate and reach new patients,” says Dr. Eid. And, it doesn’t come with the overhead of editing and uploading to YouTube. “Things are much more simplified,” he adds.

He has racked up more than 668 hours of viewtime on vidscrip from over 27,000 unique viewers*. While Dr. Eid employs typical vidscrip promotional efforts, including a vidscrip handout in his new patient folder and embedding vidscrips on his website, the majority of his viewtime stems from his use of the “Share” feature in the vidscrip app – averaging more than 7 shares each day.

When a question from a patient comes in – through an email, a voice message, or through the “Ask A Doctor” form on his website – Dr. Eid opens up the vidscrip app, finds which of his previously recorded vidscrips answers the question, and sends off an email with a direct link to the vidscrip. This all happens in a manner of a few seconds – without leaving the app.

Your turn

Dr. Eid’s plan is to use vidscrip for every component of a patient’s surgical journey. Not only does it allow him to reinforce his expertise and reassure his patients, it saves him time by recording the answer to common questions just once – and reusing that answer over and over again.

“vidscrip will save a tremendous amount of time in your practice.”

His advice for a colleague considering vidscrip? “Don’t be afraid. You need to set aside time to film vidscrips, but the benefit is that it will save a tremendous amount of time in your practice.”
